We’ll focus on the history and present-day operation of these six farms in the six-town mini-region:
- WARWICK: Chase Hill Farm, an organic, pasture-based dairy and meat farm run by Jeannette and Mark Fellows
- ORANGE: Maple Grove Farm and Farmhouse Bakery, a small diversified operation run by Laura and John Moore, a 7th-generation North Orange farmer
- ATHOL: Adams Farm, a retail meat store for the immediate region and a meat processing facility for much of New England
- PETERSHAM: The King Farm, recently purchased by farmers Emily Anderson and Tyson Neukirch with assistance from local conservation organizations
- BARRE: Many Hands Organic Farm and Sustainability Center, founded by Julie Rawson and Jack Kittredge in 1982 to produce food, new farmers, and “sustainable life design”
- HARDWICK: Stillman Quality Meats, a pasture-based meat business on two Hardwick farmsteads, selling via CSA and at many Boston-area markets
